Introduction

The feature layer is the "normal" layer type which can hold editable features. A feature layer is created to hold imported map data from most vector file formats. Most drawing tools will only be enabled when the active layer is a feature layer.

Many of the extra plugin layer types are based on the feature layer. Some of these will allow editing and selection of features and some will not.
